Based on this information, you could call them family. Does family mean love? No, definitely not. You do not love someone and attempt to murder them, rape them while they sleep or cause harm to them in any purposeful way.
Brain buzzing from the heated argument over the phone, words traveling hundreds of miles and will haunt me until the end of my days. How can someone provide someone a home and if they do not meet their cookie cutter cutout of how a person should behave, throw them to the ground and outside like the scum of the earth, Yet most would not even do that to common trash. When it comes to recycling, 67 percent of adults say they recycle aluminum or metal cans, while 59 percent recycle paper and 57 percent recycle plastic. Just over half of adults recycle glass. (2)
There is a thought: What if people treat their literal trash better than they do their LGBTQ kids? How scary would that be? Mother/Father etc saying "Get out, I don't care where you go but take the recycling out as you leave. Oh but make sure it goes in the appropriate bin!" Child responds "What about me, where will I sleep?" and the parent responds with "It doesn't matter, you are not who I raised and are trash." Are we though? It seems according to the stats that we are lower than trash, for even that you at least try to find the appropriate home first. Otherwise there would be no recycling, rummage sales etc. I am leaving you with this fact:
- 40% of the homeless youth served by agencies identified as LGBT
- 43% of clients served by drop-in centers identified as LGBT
- 30% of street outreach clients identified as LGBT
- 30% of clients utilizing housing programs identified as LGBT(3)
